Tough day today, need to reflect and learn, but can't be swayed from our process. Even if you put yourself in the position to win 53%+ of the time, the other side will hit sometimes, which is why you have to manage your bankroll appropriately. Can't avoid losers, but our goal is get at least 53% right. Probably should've been on (11) Creighton -3.5 vs. (8) Seton Hall. We like worse ranked favorites vs. better ranked teams. Only pick we regret is taking Penn State as a big road favorite, even against Northwestern, when PSU has been struggling. On to the 3/8/20 picks:
Memphis +9 @ (21) Houston: This is a big number for Memphis, a top 5 defense, per KenPom. We like great defenses getting big points, and Memphis is a bubble team that needs a game like this to get into the dance.
(19) Ohio State +7 @ (16) Michigan State: Ohio State is a top 20 offense and defense getting big points. They can really shoot the 3 too which can help them overperform. Kaleb Wesson's ability to shoot beyond the arc will drag Xavier Tillman out of the paint, creating opportunities for other OSU players. This is a ton of points for an OSU team that could make a deep tourney run.
(23) Illinois -3.5 home vs. (18) Iowa: We like this situation - worse ranked team favored over better ranked team. Iowa is much worse on the road (4-6) and we like Illinois at home (14-3). We don't think Iowa shoots 50% from the field and 44% from 3, like they did the last time against Illinois.
Saint Mary's -7.5 vs. Pepperdine: We like this situation - Good mid-major team that is on the bubble in their conference tournament. Saint Mary's needs to at least make it to the West Coast Conference's final to make the big dance, so they will be pedal to the metal tomorrow against Pepperdine. SMC is a much stronger team and will blowout Pepperdine.
